Frank R. Casagrande, 89, of Hazleton passed away Thursday evening in Hazleton General Hospital.
Born in West Hazleton, he was the son of the late Stephan and Katherine (Donati) Casagrande.
Frank served in the Air Force during World War II as a tailgunner and received the following decorations: American Theater Service Medal, European, African and Middle Eastern Service Medal with one Silver Battle Star and the Victory Medal.
He worked for the Armour Food Corp. for 35 years until his retirement.
Frank was a good and honest man who cared for his family and he will be greatly missed. He enjoyed fishing, golf, bowling and cooking.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his brothers, Thomas and John, and a sister, Katherine Kovalick.
Surviving are his wife, the former Gertrude "Trudy" Pollock; a daughter, Patricia Barletta and husband, Anthony, Hazleton; a brother, Carl Casagrande and wife, Gloria, Ohio; and two grandsons, Anthony Barletta and wife, Patrice, Houston, Texas; and Chris Barletta and wife, Marissa, Philadelphia. Five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, Hazleton.
Interment will take place at the convenience of the family.
