Robert “Jim” J. Pollock Sr., 77, of Tilton, passed away at 4:04 a.m. Thursday, September 19, 2013 at home. Jim was born on July 4, 1936, in Danville, the son of Donald and Thelma (Musson) Pollock. He married Martha Boggess on June 18, 1977, in Danville. She survives. He is also survived by a daughter- Teresa Pollock of Danville; son- Robert Pollock Jr. of Danville; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; two brothers- Harold (Rosalee) Pollock of Veedersburg, Indiana and Walter Pollock of Danville; one sister- Helen Brown of Danville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister- Loretta Lapenas, and five brothers- Alva Pollock, Donald Pollock, Bill Pollock, Edward Pollock and Wendell Pollock. Jim graduated from Oakwood High School in 1954. He worked at Teepak as a foreman for 17 years and later worked at the Public Safety Building for 10 years until he retired in 1992. Jim also worked for several years as a funeral director assistant at Wolfe Funeral Homes. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Tilton. Jim enjoyed fishing and mushroom hunting. A Celebration of Jim’s life will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Tilton, with Pastor Scott McCurdy officiating. Burial will follow the service in Oakhill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Monday at the church. Memorials may be made in Jim’s name to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund.
