Franklin Edward George Sr, 77, departed his earthly home on Sunday, September 15th, 2013 surrounded by the love of his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandson. "Frankie" was the eleventh of twelve children born to the late Roberta Taylor and Chester DeWitt George Sr. He is survived by his wife Melba Gammon Folds George; son Russell Matthews Folds, his wife Darlene Price, their children Keila Madeline, Rianna Lauren, and Jeb Gammon; his son Linwood Gammon Folds, his children James Linwood, Christopher Michael, Daniel Peyton, and their mother Leigh Matich; daughter Jennifer Quarterman and husband John, her daughter Tiffany Pate Alexander, and her grandson William Vincent (Tre) Alexander III; son Franklin Edward George Jr, his sons Noah Christopher and Caleb Foster. He is also survived by his sister Betty George Hogan and husband Jerry, brother Robert Warren George and wife Carol, sisters-in-law Elizabeth George and Linda George, as well as many nieces, nephews, and loving friends. Franklin was a graduate of John Marshall High School, served in the Army, retired from The Washington Post, and was a faithful member of Ginter Park Baptist Church. The family will receive friends 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Parkway, Mechanicsville, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, with interment to follow at Signal Hill Memorial Park.
