Leila Marie Patchett, 88, of Reddick, passed away peacefully at her residence on Thursday evening, September 12, 2013.

Her funeral services will be Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 11:00 AM at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Dwight with Pastor Ruth Hansen officiating. Visitation will be Monday, September 16 from 5-7 PM at Hager Memorial Home,Dwight. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. A private family inurnment will follow at a later date at the Round Grove Cemetery, rural Reddick.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Dwight or Hospice of Kankakee Valley.

Leila was born April 20, 1925 to Charles and Sophia Sorensen Lauritzen in Reddick. She attended Grand View College and graduated from the Cook County School of Nursing in 1946. She married Calvin Patchett on Sept. 26, 1946 in Detroit, Mich. They divorced in 1977.

Mrs. Patchett is survived by four children: Phyllis (Sam) Nichols, Estero, Fl., Becky (Alan) Murry, Manhattan, Il., Eric (Peg) Patchett, Reddick, and Brett Patchett, Dwight.; Sister-in-law GraceLauritzen,Pontiac, ;Grandchildren: Craig, Phillip and Kristina Kirchner, Jennifer Bruner, Rachael Law, Sara Ruder, Evan, Seth and Ethan Patchett, and Tania & Tori Murry; Great-Grandchildren: Isabelle, Max and Jack Kirchner, Chasmyn Parker, Jacob, Anicah, Elise and Cole Bruner, Blake Patchett, Caden and Lily Law, Charles and Eleanor Ruder and Ariana Patchett.

She was preceeded in death by her son, Craig, her brothers: Gilbert and Simon Lauritzen, sisters Elsie Hooper, Julia Gantzert, Nora Hemenover and Gladys Whiteside, and treasured friend Reuel Hoffman.

Mrs. Patchett was a registered nurse. She started working in 1946 as a cadet nurse in Detroit, Mich. She did many years of private duty nursing after moving to the Reddick farm in 1948. She worked at the V.A. Hospital and The William Fox Developmental Center in Dwight for 23 years until her retirement in 1990.

She served in her church, St Peter's Lutheran, as a Sunday School teacher, council member, WELCA president for 12 years,and WELCA bible study leader for 37 years. Previously ,she was an ALIVE tutor, a nursing home volunteer, active in prison ministry and she was a sewing circle member, making quilts for Lutheran World Relief for 20 years. She was an active member of the Dwight Senior Citizens. She enjoyed prayer ministry, service to the Dwight Senior Center and her church activities.
