Edward Frank Hall, age 92, of Portage passed away Tuesday September 10, 2013 at his home. He was born January 30, 1921 in Frisco, Alabama to the late John Frank and Alice (Armor) Hall. He was a WWII US Naval Veteran who proudly served aboard the USS Enterprise, CV6 known as the Big E. He was still aboard when it was converted to a troop carrier and brought many of our servicemen home from overseas. Edward was extremely proud of his service to his country. He was a member of American Legion post #100. Edward was a Roll Turner at the US Steel Tubing Gary who retired in 1983 with 38 years of service. Edward is survived by his wife of 17 years Dorothy of Hobart; two sons Gary Hall of Tennessee and Kevin (Deborah) Hall of Portage; two daughters Shirley (Wayne) Horner of Crown Point and Sharon Grant of Lake Station; one sister Christine Burbage of Tennessee; eleven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife of 54 years Rhema Floyd Hall; five brothers Blake, Sam, Alton, Buel and Claxton; two sisters Leona Rouge and Serena Theo Hall; and a great grandchild Garrett Horner. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Saturday September 14, 2013 at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Ave. Portage, IN 46368 with Rev. Ryan McDowell officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso. Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm with a 7pm American Legion Memorial Service at the funeral home.
