Ellen Clair Clausell, 81, passed away on September 4, 2013 at home in Lanham, MD. She was born on January 4, 1932 in Claiborne, Alabama to Osborne Blunt and Annie Mae Blunt. Ellen grew up in Evergreen, Alabama. She attended and finished the 8th grade in Evergreen, Alabama. She worked for People’s Restaurant as a Manager and retired after 32 years. Ellen married Thomas L. Clausell, Jr., also known as Tommy or Jr., in 1950 in the State Of Alabama, Monroe County. They were happily married for over 50 years until the death of Tommy on January 23, 2001. Ellen was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church in Weirton, WVA for many years. Before she became ill she enjoyed gardening, knitting,crocheting and cooking. Ellen leaves to cherish her memory; daughter, Jeanette Montgomery and friend Joe Peguese of Lanham, Maryland; two grandsons, Andre Montgomery, daughter-in-law Gwen of District Heights, MD, Vondell Hughes, daughter-in-law,Karina, of Capital Heights, MD; and five great grandchildren and special family friend, Lois Watson, of Cincinnati, OH; Ellen was the oldest of sixteen children, nine girls and six boys; Nathaniel Blunt, Osborne (Isacc) Blunt, Jr. Frank Blunt, Fred Blunt, Minnie Sinkfield, Ernestine Clausell, Shirley Jean Hicks, Emma Teel, Janie Coleman, Dot Laffitte, Annie Mae Sinkfield, Sister-in-laws, Ester Mles, Lodee Cunningham, Caldonia Drummond, Juanita Whiting, George Clausell, Pearline Andrews, Clarice Johnson, Sylvia Hands. and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Osborne Blunt and Annie Mae Blunt, brothers and sisters John Allan Blunt, James Blunt, Eugene Blunt, and sister Betty Joe Belcher. Funeral service will be held at Morning Star Baptist Church 3124 Weir Avenue, Weirton, WVA. Viewing will start at 11:00 AM and services from 12:00 – 1:00 PM on Friday, September 13, 2013. Burial will follow the funeral at Highland Hills, Cemetery, 401 Archer Hill Road, Follansbee, WVA.
