Danny Joe Weldon

A funeral service for Danny Joe Weldon, 72, Enid, will be Friday, September 13, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. in Emmanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Wade Burleson officiating. Burial will follow in Enid Cemetery under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

Danny was first child born to Don H. and Sylvia Weldon on July 4, 1941 in Enid and died on September 8, 2013 in Enid.

He attended Enid Public Schools, Roosevelt, Longfellow and Enid High. On February 14, 1959, he married his high school sweetheart, Linda Maynard. They made their home in Enid. Danny started working at age 14 at Pat’s Grocery, then Pete Lockner’s Redbud and Safeway. In 1966, Danny went to work for the Enid Fire Department, retiring as a Lieutenant in 1987. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. Danny loved hunting, fishing, golf, and was an avid archer. He put on many archery shows for Kiwanis, Ambucs, schools, churches, cub and boy scouts. Danny was the third person in Oklahoma to become a Professional Bow Hunter. He was the State of Oklahoma Bowhunter of the year in 1980. Danny was a charter member of the Cherokee Strip Archery Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandparents, Orpha Kiely, Claude and Fern Weldon.

Danny is survived by his wife, Linda of the home; daughter, Toni Luetjen-Harrell and husband, Tim, Bentonville, AR; twin sons, Thomas Joe Weldon, Enid, and Toby Lynn Weldon, Little Rock, AR; four grandchildren, Lyndee Luetjen, Adam Luetjen, Danielle Weldon David, and Olivia Weldon; two brothers, Phillip and Dennis Weldon; sister, Donna Kay Hamilton; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
