Wanda Wallace Brock, age 87, of Wichita Falls, Texas passed away Sunday morning, September 1, 2013, at her residence in Wichita Falls.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 5, 2013, at Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City. Interment will follow in the Archer City Cemetery.
Wanda, the daughter of well-known Texas artist, Dan Wallace and Callie Rhodes Wallace, was born December 12, 1925 in Lipan, Texas. She moved to Archer City as a small child where she graduated from Archer City High School.
She and John M. Brock were married June 8, 1946 in Archer City, Texas. He preceded her in death on May 11, 2010.
Mr. Brock was career military and they had lived in Japan and Germany before settling in Fort Lee, Virginia. Mr. Brock was deployed to Vietnam at the onset of the Vietnam War and in 1961 Wanda and their son, Nicholas, moved to Wichita Falls where she has resided ever since. She had been employed as a civil service employee at Sheppard A.F.B. for twenty-six years and retired in 1987.
Wanda loved her family and friends and going out to eat with friends weekly. She also enjoyed gardening and traveling. She was proud of her son, Nick and her grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, Nicholas Brock and his wife, Sylvia of Venus, Texas; two grandchildren, USCG Lieutenant Commander Brandy Parker and her husband, Eddy II of Washington, D.C., and Andrew Brock and his wife, Kimberly of Waxahachie, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Rusty Parker of Washington, D.C., and Cole and Ally Brock of Waxahachie; one sister, Martha Painter of Wichita Falls; and one nephew, Danny Painter of Wichita Falls, his children, Justin and Jackie Painter of Wichita Falls and his grandson, Daniel Painter of Wichita Falls.
