Bill Daniel, age 81, of Clarence, MO, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2013, at Landmark Hospital in Columbia, MO.
He was born June 16, 1932, in Leonard, MO, the son of Walter F. and Mary Viola Barnett Daniel. On November 6, 1955, he was united in marriage to Glenna Wilson. She preceded him in death on August 13, 2013.
Bill is survived by two children, Ginger Wood and husband Danny of Clarence, MO and Walt Daniel and wife of Tina, MO; two grandsons, Kendel Wood and wife Ann and Logan Wood and wife Tiffany both of Clarence, MO; honorary grandchildren, Jessica Thrasher, Ashley Graham, Claudio Petrulli, Marie Engesser and Linn Andreassen; honorary great-grandchildren, Ryan and Olivia Thrasher and Jayden Small; one sister, Reajenna Faes of Slater, MO; one brother, John Daniel and wife Alma Dee of Edina, MO and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three sisters, Darlene Parks, Jennel Bowen and Phyllis Wilkerson and one brother, Joe Daniel.
Billy was a 1949 graduate of Novelty High School and attended Northeast Missouri State Teachers College and the University of Missouri in Columbia. He was a member of the Novelty Christian Church. He served his country in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1959 during the Korean Conflict. He was a grain and livestock farmer and worked at the LaPlata MFA for several years. He was a member of the Clarence VFW, Kirksville Shrine Club and Scottish Rites and Shelbina Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed outdoor activities, St. Louis Cardinals, dancing and fish fries. One of the highlights of Bill’s life was the Great River Honor Flight he took in May with his daughter-in-law. Bill truly loved his family and especially enjoyed the grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2013, at 10:00 am, at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Clarence, MO, with burial to follow at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home in Clarence on Wednesday, September 4, 2013, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Memorials may be made to the Clarence VFW, Great River Honor Flight, Clarence Care Center or Donor's Choice.
