Kay L. Boettcher Greenville, Wisconsin

Kay Larraine(Koehler) Boettcher, age 71, passed away on August 30, 2013 at Rennes Health and Rehab Center in Appleton. She was born November 13, 1941, in Fremont, Wisconsin, the younger daughter of the late Reinhold and Glennie(Looker)Koehler. She attended Beaver Dam School and Weyauwega High School, where she enjoyed participating in drama and 4H. She was valedictorian of her graduating class in 1959 and attended Valparaiso University. On April 29, 1961, she married John Boettcher at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fremont. Kay was employed at Neenah Foundry, Kimberly-Clark Corporation Electronic Associates, and the US Civil Service until she and John began making signs in 1972 as operators of Custom Plastics and Hanco Engravers. Most recently, she worked at AAL and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. Alfter living briefly in Eatontown, NJ, and Honolulu, HI, during the Vietnam War, Kay and John returned to the Fox Valley, and designed and built their own home in Greenville, where they lived since 1970. Kay enjoyed traveling around the US with her family and made one special trip to Europe in 2007. Kay was an active volunteer with the Parents Outreach Coucil in the Hortonville School District, HHS Music Boosters, I’Act and her church’s Thrivent Chapter Board. She volunteered with the local Girl Scout council, serving as Cadette and Senior troop leader, as the Greenville cookie lady for almost 30 years, as a council trainer and as board member. Joining Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Greenville the year after it was chartered, she served as office assistant, Sunday School and VBS teacher and Chair of Christian Education; board secretary for three terms; on several other committees; and as a member of Today’s Women of Christ. She co-founded Hillside Cooperative Nursery School in 1977. In her spare time, she enjoyed crossword puzzles, sewing and crafts, reading, planting trees, and doing art projects with her grandchildren. She will be missed by her husband of 52 years, John; her children, Susan Boettcher, Tampa, FL, and Michael (Stacy)Boettcher, Fremont; two grandchildren, Alexandria and Bryna Boettcher; her brother-in-law, Carl(Doris Tetzlaff)Boettcher, Iola; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Frank and Anna(Kopitzke)Looker and Martin and Ella(Wendt)Koehler; her sister and Brother-in-law, Judy(Koehler) and Joseph Mitchell, and her sister-in-law, Marilyn(Boegh)Boettcher. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, N1615 Meadow View Dr., Greenville. Pastor Paul Shackel will officiate. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Tuesday, from 10:00 AM until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established for Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.

Kay's family would like to extend a very special Thank you to the Oncology Staff at Appleton Medical Center as well as the staff at Rennes Health and Rehab Center for all of their wonderful care.
