Albert Boardingham

Albert Boardingham Jr. age 81 of Purcell, Oklahoma went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday August 22, 2013 in Norman, OK. Albert was born May 30, 1932 in Newalla, Oklahoma. He was the 3rd child of nine children born to Albert Boardingham Sr. and Beulah (Doakes) Boardingham.. Albert attended Booker T. Washington School in Purcell, Oklahoma, and in his spare time he loved working on cars. Albert graduated from High School in May of 1952. The following month he enlisted in the Navy on June 20, 1952. After traveling to Japan and various other countries, he returned home and married the love of his life, Deborah “Bea” Green on July 26, 1955. After deciding to make a career of the Navy, he traveled with his family at his side stationed in all parts of the United States. His home base for 38 years and choice to raise his family was San Diego, California. During that time he accepted God’s calling to the Gospel Ministry. He always loved working in the church so his main workmanship was at True Faith Missionary Baptist Church. He was on the Deacon Board for many years. He would shout so much that the other Deacons told him to go on and preach. So on December 21, 1984 to January 5, 1986, he completed his education at the Bible Institute in North Park, California. On December 4, 1989, he was ordained. In 2001, Albert and Bea moved back to Purcell. Guided by the Holy Spirit to move, not on his own, but “Yes Lord, I’ll go where you want me to go”. Upon moving back, their membership was accepted at The First Baptist Church and Santa Fe in Purcell. Rev. Boardingham was appointed Assistant to the Pastor under the leadership, Rev. Ricky McNeal. Albert became active in the Purcell Ministerial Alliance, and was known as a “prayer warrior” in his community. Albert was preceded in death by: His parents, Albert Sr. and Beulah Boardingham, One brother, Inman Doakes, One sister, Floyretta Gilbert, One daughter, Dorothy Miller, One son, Albert Wayne Boardingham, Albert leaves to cherish: His loving wife, Deborah of 58 years, 3 daughters, Gloria Thomas of Marietta, CA, Diana Holiday of San Diego, CA, Denise Williams of Arlington, TX, one daughter-in-law: Tia Maria Boardingham of San Diego, CA, One son, Anthony Boardingham and wife Annette of Sacramento, CA; 4 sisters, Mary Boardingham and Rosie Boardingham, both of Anadarko, Alfretta Gill of OKC, OK and Hazel Burton of El Paso, TX; 2 brothers, Garfield Doakes and wife Connie of OKC, Major Boardingham and wife Bobbie of Anadarko, 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; Many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell, OK. Interment will be at the Hillside Cemetery in Purcell.
