James D. Eppley

James D. Eppley, 79, of Huntington, IN passed away at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN. Jim was born on February 15, 1934 in Treaty, IN to Norris and Jessie Little Eppley. His parents preceded him in death. Jim married Betty Burton on September 1, 1956. His wife survives. . Jim was a graduate of Purdue University with a Bachelor’s Degree and he earned his Master’s Degree at Ball State University. He was in the Army for two years until 1963. Jim worked for Purdue Co-op Extension and later the USDA in Muncie, IN. Jim retired in October 1996. He was a member of Central Christian Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Craig Eppley, Huntington, IN and David Eppley, Huntington, IN. He is also survived by five grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Eppley and one sister, Wilba (Billie) McGinnis.

Calling will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2013 at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN 46750. Additional calling will be on Saturday, August 31, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. followed by the Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN 46750 with Pastor Chris Hayden officiating. Burial will be in Lafontaine Cemetery, Lafontaine, IN. Preferred memorials are to the Purdue Co-op Extension office for 4-H programs, American Cancer Society or Allen County Cancer Society in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN 46750.
