WORCESTER-Joseph B. Corriere, 83, of Worcester, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at home with his family at his side.
Joseph leaves his devoted wife of 61 years, Catherine D. (Noonan) Corriere; five beloved children, Linda A., Joseph P. and Maryellen Corriere all of Worcester, Daniel P. Corriere and his wife Deana of Virginia Beach, VA and Nancy J. Corriere of Goldsboro, NC. Joseph's daughter, Amy Beth predeceased him in 1968. He also leaves six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
Joseph was born in Boston, and was raised in the West End, the son of Joseph and Josephine (Guiliano) Corriere and graduated from Charlestown High School. He was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Corriere worked as an Electronic Technician for Atwell and Dictaphone Corporations.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church, the Worcester Lodge of Elks #243, where he served as past Exalted Ruler and was in charge of the Bingo, the Main South Post #341, the Millbury VFW Post #3329 and was involved in the Boy Scouts at Heard Street School. Joe was an excellent pool player, an avid reader and an excellent cook.
Joseph's funeral will be held on Saturday, August 24 from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle Street, with a Mass at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street, Worcester. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery. Visiting Hours are Friday, August 23 from 4-8 pm at the funeral home.
