Mr. George W. Coleman, 88, of Mohnton, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2013 at his residence.
He was the widower of Pauline C. (Sarvas) Coleman, who died on June 2, 2010.
Born in Reading, PA, he was a son of the late George W. and Elsie (Yerger) Coleman.
Mr. Coleman served in the U.S. Marine Corp as a Master Sergeant from 1941 through 1946 during W.W. II. He served in the South Pacific Theater of Operation's Island Hopping Campaign.
Mr. Coleman retired in 1986 after 26 years of service at Carpenter Technology in Reading. He was a member of Saint John de la Salle Church in Shillington. George was an avid hunter and gardener.
Surviving is a daughter, Monica E. Coleman of Lansdale, and a son, Michael G. Coleman of Mohnton.
He is also survived by five grandchildren: Chester R. Ney, III, Heavenly A. Ney, Thomas J. Coleman, Cody M. Coleman, and Elizabeth A. Reisig; three great grandchildren: Soffee, Aliya, and Ahmed.
He was predeceased by two brothers and fellow W.W. II veterans, Robert and Stanley Coleman.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his Memorial Mass on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 9:00 AM at Saint John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church, Kerrick and Mitti Roads, Shillington, PA, with Father Richard Clement, celebrant.
Inurnment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale, with military honors.
