Ronald Edwin Christner


Ronald Edwin Christner, age 74, of Wayland, MO, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 in the emergency room of Lincoln Co. Medical Center in Troy, MO.

Ron was born October 26, 1938, in Lockridge, IA, a son of Dale Edwin and Darlene Hendricks Christner.

He married Carolyn Miller and they were the parents of Rhonda, Wendy and Eric. He later married Brenda Robben.

Survivors include his three children: Rhonda Hennings, Wendy (Mrs. David) Lynn, and Eric (Kirsten) Christner, all of Wayland, IA; a step-daughter, Anita Robben and her husband, Steve Novacek of Wichita, KS; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one great-grandson; three brothers, Arnold (Billie) Christner of Rifle, CO, Gene (Sandy) Christner of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Michael (Tess) Christner of North Liberty, IA; two sisters, Mary (Mrs. George) Parker of New London, IA and Sherry (Mrs. Harold) Grant of Wayland, IA; special friends, Joann Wilson of Wayland, MO and Dan and Crystal King and family of Wayland, MO; as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Wanda Ridinger; and a step-son, Eric Robben.

Ron graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1958. His family was a part of the original founders of Midwest Old Threshers and still support it today.

He was a career over-the-road truck driver and worked until his health forced him to retire. He was a long-time member of the St. Francisville United Methodist Church and he had a very strong faith. Ron was a life-time member of the NRA and had a large interest in rifles. He had a loving and generous nature. Funeral services were held Monday, August 19, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Pastor Tom Lemons officiating. Burial was 3:30 p.m. Monday at White Oak Cemetery in Lockridge, IA.

Memorials were suggested to be used to pay final expenses.
