William John Heron

U.S. Veteran

William (Bill) Heron, 86, of Sun City Center Florida, formally of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Monday August 12, 2013 in Florida.

Bill is survived by his wife Pat Heron of Sun City Center; two sons, Bill Maue and his wife Tracy of Ruskin, FL and Dale Heron and his wife Christa of Annapolis, MD; four Grandchildren, William J. Maue, Michelle Willson, Lisa Maue, Rachael Heron; and five great grand children. He leaves a brother Jackie, and two sisters Jeanne Patrusch, and Janet Synan. He was preceded in death by two brothers Robert and David.

Bill was born in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, son of Zeke and Blanche Heron. He worked most of his career at the Blawnox Mill and Machinery Company in Pittsburgh where he started as an apprentice and worked his way to manager of the machine shop and then lead estimator before retirement. Locally he worked for a short time at the B&M Precision Corporation in Ruskin to stay active in early retirement.

Bill was an avid hunter, mechanic, and skater. He and his wife Pat won multiple skating dance titles including eight time Pennsylvania State Champions, eight time Eastern Regional Champions, and placing in the National Championships before becoming professional instructors.

Bill was an active member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge in Ruskin. There will be a small gathering of friends and family at the Ruskin Moose on Saturday August 14, 2013, at 2:00pm.
