Bernard Penzien, age 66, of Imlay City, Michigan passed away suddenly Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at his office apartment. Bernard Paul Penzien was born August 7, 1947 in Almont, Michigan. Bernie was a son of Lawrence & Elverta Penzien. Bernie was a graduate of the Imlay City High School Class of 1965. He lived all of his life in the Imlay City area. He attended Michigan State University and was a 1969 graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture. When he returned to the area, he taught science and agriculture in the Capac Schools. Bernie returned to school to study law and graduated from the Detroit College of Law in the early 1970's. Bernie was a partner with Preisel & Penzien Attorneys-at-Law and later a partner with the Penzien & Davis Attorneys-at-Law. The Bernard P. Penzien Attorney-at-Law firm has been a downtown Imlay City establishment since the early 1980’s. Bernie learned to fly an airplane and he enjoyed gardening and working with his tractor around his yard. Surviving are sons: Christopher Penzien of Grand Rapids and William Penzien of Dunedin, Florida; his daughters: Sheryl Penzien of Imlay City and Linda Penzien of Dunedin, Florida; brothers: Lee Penzien of Yale and William (& Jane) Penzien of Brown City; sisters: Alice (& Doug) Steckly of Imlay City, Mary Penzien of Port Huron and Linda Penzien of Port Huron; sister-in-law: Dorothy Penzien of Marysville. He is preceded in death by his parents: Lawrence and Elverta Penzien; and a brother: Larry Penzien. Arrangements have been made with the Muir Brothers Funeral Home, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, Michigan.
