The Reverend Doctor Millard Ross Cherry, age 90 of Nova Scotia Canada, died Friday, October 5th, 2012 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Dr. Cherry was born in Franklin on December 2, 1921 to the late Daniel Borthic Cherry and Nema Hatter Cherry. He was baptized as a teenager and licensed to preach at the age of 19. He held a B.A. from Ouachita Baptist University and a B.D. and Doctor of Theology degrees from Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville. In 1957 Dr. Cherry made the move to Canada and in 1970 obtained Canadian citizenship. He became Professor of Systematic Theology in the School of Theology at Acadia University. Over the next several years he served on numerous board and committees as well as holding other notable positions. He is survived by his nephew – Daniel Potts Cherry and wife Danita and their children, Lauren, Jeffrey and Alexander of Louisville. He was preceded in death by his brother – Billy Jeff Cherry of Franklin. A graveside memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 13th at 11:00am in the Sulphur Spring Cemetery.
