Elbert H. McFadden

Elbert H. “Ab” McFadden, 87, of Rock Springs, Wyoming passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at the Deseret Rehab of Rock Springs. A longtime resident of Rock Springs, Wyoming and former resident of Mount Vernon, Indiana and Pinedale, Wyoming, Mr. McFadden passed away following a lengthy illness. He was born in Mount Vernon, Indiana on June 9, 1926, the son of Fieldon B. and Mary E. McDurmon McFadden. Mr. McFadden attended schools in Rock Springs, Wyoming and graduated from Rock Springs High School with the Class of 1944. He married Lucille S. Taucher in Rock Springs, Wyoming on January 16, 1949 and she preceded him in death on April 20, 2000 in Rock Springs, Wyoming. Mr. McFadden served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He was a self-employed warehouse owner of McFadden Wholesale for over seventy years. Mr. McFadden was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Community, B.P.O. Elks Lodge #624 and the American Legion Archie Hay Post 24 and the East Fork Rod and Gun Club. His interests included hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, sports, outings, wood working and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include two sons Gene H. McFadden and wife Mary Ann of Rock Springs, Wyoming and Dale M. McFadden and wife Lisa of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; one brother Pat McFadden of Rock Springs, Wyoming; one sister-in-law Marlene McFadden of Rock Springs, Wyoming; one sister Alice Jean Cristanelli of Rock Springss, Wyoming; one brother-in-law Alex Ungren of Rohnert Park, California; six grandchildren Jeannie Gebhart and husband Brandon of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Julie McFadden of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Kelly Zownorega and husband Rob of Chicago, Illinois, Eileen Gower and husband Michael of Chicago, Illinois, Christopher McFadden of Chicago, Illinois and Allison McFadden of Chicago, Illinois; four great-grandchildren, Taylor Gebhart of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Reagan Gebhart of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Liam Zownorega of Chicago, Illinois and Rory Zownorega of Chicago, Illinois; special friend Zoanne Henderson of Rock Springs, Wyoming and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lucille McFadden, two brothers John and Michael McFadden; one sister Mary Yvonne Ungren and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, August 10, 2013 at the Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 633 Bridger Avenue, Rock Springs, Wyoming. A Vigil Service with Rosary will be celebrated at 6:00 P.M., Friday, August 9, 2013 at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk Street, Rock Springs, Wyoming. Inurnment will be in the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery at a later date.
