Davis Jr., Joseph D. 70, of Dade City, FL passed away July 31, 2013 in Zephyrhills under the care of Gulfside Regional Hospice. He was born September 18, 1942 in New Castle, IN to Joseph D. Davis Sr. & Mildred Budd Davis. He graduated from Walter P. Chrysler Memorial High School in 1960. He attended Purdue University for 2 years, received his Bachelor Degree from Western New Mexico in 1967 and his Master’s from Ball State in 1969 and was a member of the PHI THETA PI Fraternity. He moved to Florida in 1970 and taught at Tampa College for several years. He served as the Department Head at University of South Florida in Computer Services Lab and acquired several hours towards his PhD. He owned Davis Computers Systems in Seffner for several years and also an internet music business call Silverlake Music for the past 13 years. He loved the game of golf. He served as a caddy during his younger years, played golf at Westwood Country Club and also on the High School Varsity Team. He acquired 3 holes-in-one during his career. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and especially his favorite driver, Danica Patrick. He was a fan of the Tampa Bay Rays and enjoyed bicycling and walking trails until his health declined. He is survived by his mother: Mildred Davis, New Castle, IN; sisters: Judy Hardin, Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Dee Gillespie, Lewisville, IN; brother-in-law: Harold Gillespie; niece: Christie Gillespie, nephews: Joe Gillespie, Scott Crabtree, Jeff Hardin and Ron Hardin. He was preceded in death by his father: Joseph Davis Sr; and nephew: Mike Hardin. A private service and Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date.
