Rosetta Harrison

Our sweet mom, Rosetta Harrison, 91, of Metropolis, IL, passed away at 8:10 a.m. on Friday, August 02, 2013 at her home. She was born November 26, 1921 in Harrisburg, IL. She was very talented lady, and as a child she sang in church and for WEBQ radio in Harrisburg, and also was a gifted poem writer, writing poems for her family and friends. She has written over 300 poems.

Funeral services will be Monday August 5, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home with Rev’s Charles and Paul Harrison with burial to follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.

In 1938 Rosetta married Marion Eugene “Cotton” Harrison and to this union were born 5 children, Charles (Melva) Harrison; Greenville, KY; Paul (Ginny) Harrison, Clinton, IN; David (Linda) Harrison, Taylorville, IL; Joyce (Don) Heflin, Paducah, KY; Steve (Sophfonda) Harrison, Metropolis, IL.

Grandchildren Lisa Gilbert, Todd Harrison, Tom, Mike Kevin and Joe Harrison, Tim and Philip Harrison, Amy Hobby and Samuel Harrison.

Her great grandchildren, Kathryn, Kadin, Alea, Susan, Tyler, Andrew, Madilyn, J.J., Ella, Max, Nathaniel, Nicholas, Tyler, Caleb, Jacob, Lakyn, and Landon

Her great great grandchild, Emma.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charley and Rachael (smith) Stephenson, Three sisters, Jenny, Lillian, and Beulah and two infant brothers

She was a devoted homemaker and mother, doing an amazing job raising her family. She attended Lighthouse Assembly of God.

Friends may call at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home, Monday August 5, 2013 from 12 noon until the funeral hour at 1 p.m.

Memorials may be given to St. Judes Children’s Hospital or Light house Assembly of God, c/o the funeral home.
