Mattie Adams

“Our Dear Mother”

Mattie Mae (Moore) Adams, of Killeen, peacefully passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at the age of 78 years old.

As God grants her eternal rest, mother Mattie will be greatly missed by her daughters, family and friends. Her big smile; her creative hands of many talents; and her love of singing will continue to live in the hearts of all that knew her. Among our most memorable family memories are our Christmas dinners and programs; creative hand-made gifts and elegant flowers; and our personalized memory photo books.

She was born May 30, 1935 to the late J. T. and Hattie Mae Moore, in Taylor, Texas; and was joined by one younger sister Dollie E. Reese.

Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Garfield Adams, and granddaughter Ursula Lilley.

She is survived by her loving family, Rita (Reggie) Howard of Killeen; Debra Johnson of Waco; Bridgette Adams of Killeen; and Minister Sonya (Reverend Wendell) Hosey of Pflugerville. She leaves her sister Dollie (Pastor B. R) Reese of Pflugerville; and her numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is also survived by her grandchildren Celes Johnson of Washington, DC; Kila Spencer of Killeen; Kyron Walker of Austin; Shanequea (Army Sgt. Billy) Wright of Ft. Polk, Louisiana; Wyntrane and JT Hosey of Pflugerville. She leaves her great-grandchildren Ta’Nequea Adams; Faijon, Destiny and D’Jiron Lilley; E’mani Spencer; Prince, Adriana, and Makya Walker.

She was a member of God’s Way Christian Baptist Church of Taylor and under watch care at God’s Way Community Baptist Church of Killeen; she served in the women’s department and decoration committees.

The family expressed its deepest gratitude to those who supported our mother in the recent year, especially Gladys Johnson, Aunt; Dorothy and John Matthews, Best Friend; MaTina Howard; and the compassionate and dedicated care of the staff of New Century Hospice.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30AM on Friday, August 9, 2013 at God’s Way Community Church, 700 Whitlow Dr., Killeen; presiding Pastor Roy Sephus. Officiating will be Pastor B. R. Reese of God’s Way Christian Baptist Church of Taylor, Texas. A visitation will precede the service from 9AM to 10:30AM. Interment will follow at Killeen Memorial Park. Services have been entrusted to Killeen Memorial Funeral Home.

Memorial gifts made in her honor may be made to: Moore 4 Sister Ministries, Inc. Women-to-Women Network, non-for profit c/o – God’s Way Christian Baptist Church PO Box 449 Taylor, Texas 76574.
