Dorothy Collar

She went to her heavenly home on the evening of July 28, 2013. She had suffered from the advanced stages of Alzheimer’s.

She was born on May 30, 1926 in Hammond, Indiana, a lifelong resident of Lompoc since 1960. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Collar, a son Robert Reed and a great granddaughter baby Macey Wallace.

Her daughter and granddaughter were by her side as she passed away peacefully. Dorothy is survived by her loving daughter Reyna Pass of Lompoc, a son Richard Reed of Idaho, Sister Carol Snyder and brother Ronnie Timmons of Arizona. She leaves behind her lovely grandchildren of 7 and great grandchildren of 6.

Dorothy worked for GE and Martin Marietta a VAFB for over 25 years. She loved to read, write, travel, camping, gardening and doing crafts. She was a member of the Lompoc Hospital Auxiliary Women’s Club, a member of the Lompoc Elks Camping Club; she also belonged to the Red Hat Society and the Historical Society of Lompoc.

A special thank you to all the team of the Assisted Healthcare Services of Hospice for taking such wonderful care of my mother the last 7 months of her life. Couldn’t have done it without them. Special thank you to Diana Smith who was a tremendous help caring for my Mother on a weekly basis, and during her last breaths. Special thanks in appreciation from the Meridian Assisted Living for all the love and care they have given to my Mother during her time there, especially caregivers Cindy and Hilda.

Funeral services will be held at the La Purisima Catholic Church in Lompoc, on Friday, August 9, 2013 and 10:00 a.m. Following will be a Celebration of Life BBQ held at the Lompoc Elks Lodge.

Arrangements are under the care of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
