Gabriela Porras Burrola, 71, passed away on July 19, 2013, at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, Calif., with her family at her side.
Gabriela, better known as Doña Gaby, was born on April 15, 1942, in La Estacion, Chihuahua, Mexico to Maria and Santiago Burrola, the youngest of 11 children.
She came to Blythe in the early '60s and worked as a laborer for various local farms all of her life until her retirement. She enjoyed cooking and playing loteria (Mexican Bingo) with her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Socorro Salcido; son, Jesus Dominguez; grandchildren Jessie (Dolores) Salcido and Blanca (Mario Adan) Burrola; and great-grandchildren Brianna Salcido, Destiny Salcido, Jessica Salcido, Jestina Salcido, Jessie Salcido Jr., Jesiah Salcido, Bianca Rojas, Samantha Rojas, Antonio Rojas, and Maria Conchita Rojas. She is also survived by Denise Silva who she considered another granddaughter.
She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Santiago (Aurora) Burrola from Blythe; Manuel (Delia) Burrola from Gilroy, Calif.; Ramona Magdaleno from Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua; Marcelino (Olivia) Burrola from El Paso, Texas; and Lorenza (Jesus) Terrazas from Pecos, Texas. In addition, she is survived by numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Maria and Santiago Burrola; and her brothers and sisters Maria del Refugio Ramirez, Francisco Burrola, Victoriana Silva, Maria Luisa Mendoza, and Rodolfo Burrola.
Visitation will be held on July 25, 2013, from 4-8 p.m., with Rosary at 7 p.m. at Frye Chapel. Holy mass will be on July 26, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.
