BELCHER, Roy S., SFC, Army, Retired, 58, of Dayton, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013. He was born in Winter Haven, Florida on April 17, 1955 to the late Reed & Mary (McKinley) Belcher. SFC Roy Belcher retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service. His service included the Vietnam War, Operation Just Cause in Panama and Desert Storm. Roy was also employed by Veterans Security for over 12 years. Preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jamey Lynn, and several siblings. Survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Pamela (Matthews) Belcher; daughter, Chasidy Belcher Norman (James); sons, Roy Spencer Belcher, II (Kelly), Jonathan Edward Belcher; 6 grandchildren, Eliya, Jaydon, Roy S. “Spencer” Belcher, III, Kyla, Alexia & Layla; sister, Penny Belcher Bragg; brothers, Namen “Butch” McKinley (Doris), Santana L. Belcher & Melvin T. Belcher; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins & many friends. Funeral service 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 26, 2013 at the GEORGE C. MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, “Northridge Chapel,” 5040 Frederick Pike at Needmore Road. Pastor Dan Burris, officiating. Interment Dayton National Cemetery.
