Vena Mae Cullum was born on January 29, 1922 in Hazard, Kentucky to Herbert Costello and Lillie Sizemore Costello. On May 26, 1949, she married Winston W. Cullum in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Vena was an outspoken, strong-willed woman of prayer. She was a longtime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Promise Connection Church.
Vena Mae Cullum passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2013, in a Katy hospital, at the age of 91 years.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Winston Cullum; daughter, Kathy Angeli and her husband Luigi; son, Curt Litton and his wife Gwen; grandchildren, Michael Dollens, Jonathan Dollens, and Misty Wright and her husband Frank; great grandchildren, Austin Dollens, Ashlyn Dollens, and Mitchell Gore and his wife Carol; great great grandchildren, Hailey Gore and Mason Gore, sister, Ruth Williams; niece, Bertie Kaye Salyer; as well as other loving family members and friends.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 22, 2013, at the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel, in Katy, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Sue Hamilton and Rev. Larry Morris officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2:15 p.m. on Monday, July 22, 2013 at the Houston National Cemetery, in Houston.
