Clevrion Vandell Wells , affectionately known as "Charles", was born in Cary, Mississippi on March 20, 1931 to Thomas Wells and Ella Buckner . He was the youngest of six siblings born to this union. He was also the youngest of 15 other siblings from Thomas Wells' previous two marriages. Clevrion accepted Christ at an early age. He attended the local area elementary school. He attended high school and college at Alcorn A. & M. College in Lorman, MS. His college education was interrupted by military service. He served two years in the United States Army from Feb. 27, 1952- Nov. 27, 1953. After his discharge from the US Army on November 27, 1953, he returned to Alcorn A. &M College to complete his education. Clevrion graduated in 1955 with a BA Degree in Sociology.
Clevrion met Juanita Lucas in Prentiss, MS. in 1955. They married after a world-wind romance on May 28, 1955 in Columbia, MS. To this union were born three children, Gwendolyn, Gregory and Gustava. They moved to Los Angeles, CA. in 1956 so that Clevrion could continue to pursue his education. He received his Master's Degree from U.S.C. in 1959.
He worked at McDonald Douglas Aircraft for approximately three years. There, Clevrion met a lifetime friend, Naman Holley and his wife Mary; whom later became the God parents of their three children. In 1961, Clevrion started his career at TRW Aerospace Industries as a project manager. He remained there for 30 years until his retirement in October , 1991.
He also worked part time at Roy Campanella County Park in Compton, CA. as a park director for several years. He loved working with teens and saw a need for them to engage in positive activities. While working at the park , he formed a Teen Council which provided local teens with various positive activities. He organized, •iRecord Hops" where local radio DJ's would come in to spin records on Saturday nights . The teen council also put on talent shows, trips to sporting events, amusement parks and TV game show tapings.
In 1962, Clevrion moved his family to Compton, CA. after purchasing a house on Charron Place. While living in Compton, Clevrion and Juanita joined Macedonia Baptist Church in 1965 under the leadership of Rev. Floyd Massey. Their children attended Sunday school at the church. In 1979, their eldest daughter, Gwendolyn married in the church.
In 1974, Clevrion moved his family to Cerritos where he and family continued to live and worship at a Macedonia Baptist Church.
Clevrion and Juanita relocated to Prentiss, MS. In 1991, but had to return to Cerritos, CA. when Juanita's health began to fail. Juanita passed away in August 2002.
Clevrion reunited in Holy matrimony to Rosalyn McCray in May 2009.They remained united in marriage until his death .
Clevrion leaves to cherish his memories, wife Rosalyn McCray-Wells; daughter, Gwendolyn Miles Wells; son, Gregory Wells (Debbie); daughter, Gustava Wells Allen (Victor), step-daughter, Je'Taunne Richardson (Willie); grandsons, Karay Miles, step-grandsons, Jerome Brody and Joshua Barnhart; granddaughters, Morgan Allen, Shardae Wells, Brittany Allen and Larren Wells; step-grand-daughter, Sarah Redding (Thomas); Step-great-grand-children, Gabrielle Brody, Aidan Barnhart, Nolan Barnhart , Brenner Barnhart, Sully Redding, Finn Redding and Pippa Redding; Sister, Bertha Pilate; sister-in-laws, Sygrid Lucas, Pearlena Browne; brother-in-laws , Willie Lucas (Lorene), Willie Bickham (Renee) , Gerald Bickham (Thelma); sister-in-law Patricia Guetsch (Gary). Preceded Clevrion in death are his loving first wife, Juanita, several siblings and in-laws: Maggie Wilkerson (David), Lucy Jackson, Sadie Marshall, Carrie Seaberry, Malinda Hawkins, Corrine Wells, Lillie Collier, Dotsie Wells, Goldie Wells, Walter Wells, Mamon Wells, Thomas Wells, Ebiga Wells, Alfred Collins, Daniel Collins, Matthew Collins, Willie Collins, Lillie Mae Collins, Lucille Collins; and in-laws: Nurceal Griffith (Dannie), Annie Rose Bridges (Elva Lee), Rosie Hathorne (Bobby) and Javus Lucas Jr. (Doreen). He also leaves a host of niece, nephews, cousins and many special friends who will miss him.
