Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw, MO William L. “Uncle Bill” Entrkin, age 83, of Warsaw, Missouri, departed this life on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at his residence in Bristol Manor Assisted Living in Warsaw. He was born on February 13, 1930, in Carruthersville, Missouri, the son of Fred and Genevieve Entrikin.
Uncle Bill graduated in 1948 in Webster Groves, Missouri, where he met the love of his life, Francine D. Roellig and the two were united in marriage on September 2, 1950. He was drafted in 1952 and served in the Korean War as a Sargent in the Army. After serving his country, he returned to Webster Groves and worked as a fighter and pipeman for the Webster Groves Fire Department for three years. The country life made a calling to them and they moved to Belle, Missouri where many family gatherings, Bar-B-Queue’s and good times took place on the Gasconade River. In the late sixties, Uncle Bill took a job in Springfield, Missouri, where he worked as a manager for Prairie Farms Dairy. His passion for selling led him to many good years in Springfield and taking vacations to Florida as much as possible. Their love for Florida became so overwhelming in 1975 that they packed up and moved to St. Petersburg, Florida, where they spent the next thirty years of their lives living their dreams and walking on the beach every night. Due to health issues they moved to Warsaw in 2009.
Uncle Bill had many journeys in life and loved to tell of them all. He was always dreaming of what he could do or own next. He was called Uncle Bill not only by family, but by many friends and he loved to visit with them all and no one he met was ever a stranger to him. He enjoyed his association with the First United Methodist Church in Warsaw and the members of the Wesley Sunday School Class.
Bill and Fran celebrated sixty years of life together, side by side until he lost the love of his life and part of himself in December 27, 2010.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Fred Hugh Entrikin, Jr., and sister-in-law Ester, two sisters, Patricia and Mary Alice and his brother-in-law, Ron Roellig, Sr.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Delma Roellig, of Warsaw, nine nieces and nephews, Kathy and Hadley Arnett, Ron and Chelle Roellig, Danny Bill and Jowell Roellig, all of Warsaw, Fred H. Entrikin III and his wife of Webster Groves, Deborah A. Richter and husband, of Kirkwood, Missouri, Jenny Callier and husband, of O’Fallon, Missouri, Kim Hawkins and husband, of Charlotte, North Carolina, William A. Entrikin, of Webster Groves, and Louise Rome, of San Antonio, Texas. He is also survived by several great-nieces and great-nephews, who loved his stories, other relatives and many friends. He will be sadly missed by all.
His wishes were to be cremated. Cremation arrangements were by Reser Funeral Home of Warsaw. Family services will be held at a later date on a beach in St. Petersburg, Florida. To all his new founded friends in Warsaw, “Thanks A Million”, Uncle Bill.
