Pauline C. “Polly” Carr, age 91 of Millfield died Monday afternoon, July 8, 2013 at Cedar Hill Care Center, Zanesville.

Born June 5, 1922 in The Plains, she was the daughter of the late Oscar J. & Verna Pierce Tinkham.

She attended The Plains High School. She had been employed at Bowman’s Department Store and Pendergrass Hardware in Chauncey and The Fair Store in Nelsonville. She attended the Bishopville Church of Christ and the Concord Church of Christ.

Polly is survived by her daughter, Emma Jean Tippett of Millfield; nine grandchildren- Denise (Jeff) Gilliland of Carilsle, Ky., Connie (Bob) Harvey of Cocoa Beach, Fla., Dan (Susie) Tippett serving overseas in the US Air Force, Becky (Rob)McClelland of South Point, Pam (Andy) Perrine of Zanesville, Bill (Jill) Russsell, Chris (Lacy) Russell, Cathy (Brad) Shields and Steve (Rachel) Russell all of Millfield and twenty-eight great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren and is expecting three more great-great grandchildren.

Polly had such a fun and friendly personality. She loved to laugh and her laughter was infectious. She was a generous woman who over the years, with her husband Bill, took people into her home that at the time needed a little help. She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be greatly missed.

Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, William F. Carr, who died in 2008; a daughter, Evelyn Louise Russell; three sisters, Velma Evener, Emma Tinkham & Royal Ruth Tinkham; seven brothers- Earl, Meryl, Clarence, Paul, Oscar, Jr., Gerald and Norman Tinkham.

Funeral service will be conducted Friday 11:00am at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens officiated by John Wright, Minister. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery, Ames Township. Friends may call Thursday 5-8pm at the funeral home.
