Marie Anna Theiss, 86, of Perryville died July 4, 2013 at Independence Care Center of Perry County, in Perryville.
She was born December 18, 1926 in Seventy-Six, MO, daughter of August Henry and Emma Mathilda (Mahnken) Klaus. She and Rev. Louis C. Theiss were married on June 16, 1951. He preceded her in death on April 3, 2011.
She was a wife, mother, homemaker, school teacher and day care provider. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid, Women’s Missionary League, and Salem Senior Servants in Farrar, MO and volunteered at Perry County Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. John and Maggie Theiss of Brooks, Alberta, Canada, David and Maxine Theiss of Farrar, Rev. Steven and Susan Theiss of Columbia, IL, Joel and Beth Theiss of Raleigh, NC; five daughters and sons-in-law, Rhoda and Rev. David Rempfer of Blairstown, IA, Selma and Richard Thole of Perryville, Ruth and Rev. Timothy Rynearson of Brookings, SD, Dorothy and Jeffrey Albrecht of Imperial, MO, Eunice and Rev. Jose Rodriguez of Kansas City, MO; one sister, Elvira Roth of Wittenberg; four sisters-in-law, Grace Klaus of San Antonio, TX, Helen Theiss of Cape Girardeau, Viola Theiss of Perryville, Caroline Theiss of Glen Ullin, ND; 28 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Justin, Jeremy, Emmalynn, and Joey Rodriguez, Lucas Albrecht, Emily and Amy Theiss, Michael and Sara Rynearson, Becky (Ryan) Taylor, Kayla Thole, Samuel (Meagan) Thole, Kristina (Robert) Stell, Paul and J’Nae (Briar McCoy) Rempfer, M’Leigh (Drew) Olson, Joel (Saydi) Rempfer, Mark, Philip (Mary), Paul, Steven (Lindsay), Derek, Benjamin, Jared (Heather), Jason (Beth), Joshua (Amy), and Nathaniel (Leah) Theiss; 17 great-grandchildren, Kaygan and Karlyle Stell, Adelyn Olson, Gerhardt, Hayden, Heinrich, Rachel, Leah, Elise, Kyle, Alessandra, Luke, Abigail, Grace, Owen, Nathaniel and Naomi Theiss and 5 expected great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren, Felicity (Darren) Dykstra, Seadon (Jessaca Laborte) Rosekat, Miranda (Russell) Pammenter; 6 step-great-grandchildren, Jack and Noah Dykstra, Hush and Shai Rosekat, Rowen and Tiernan Pammenter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers; one sister; two grandsons, Christopher Rempfer and T.J. Rodriguez and one granddaughter, Jessica Theiss.
Visitation will be on Monday, July 8 at Young & Sons Funeral Home in Perryville from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and on Tuesday, July 9 from 6:30 am to 12:15 pm. She will then be taken to Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar for service at 2:00 pm with Rev. Roger Abernathy officiating. Burial in church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to United in Christ Lutheran School or Salem Lutheran Church.
