James E. “Jim” Rose, 73 of Grand Island, formerly of Anchorage, Alaska died Saturday, June 29, 2013 at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island, Nebraska.
A Private Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Apfel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
James E, Rose was born February 26, 1940 in Greeley, Nebraska the son of Carl and Clara (Swanson) Rose. He grew up and received his education in Greeley, Nebraska. James entered the United States Air Force January 19, 1962 and was honorably discharged May 30, 1962. He was a Master Electrician, and helped wire Amchitka Island. He resided in various communities including Greeley, Nebraska, Cheyenne, Wyoming, Hawaii, California and Anchorage, Alaska, where he lived since 1969.
He was a 50 year plus member of IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.) His greatest enjoyment came with being with his family and friends who often came to visit him while living in Anchorage, Alaska. He attended Frontier Days in Cheyenne, Wyoming which was another opportunity for him to be with his family and friends.
Survivors include his children, Whitney Marie Rose of Anchorage, Alaska and Alyson Jayne Rose of Grand Island, and their mother, Peggy Albright of Anchorage, Alaska: three brothers; Carl Rose, of Torrance, California, Steve Rose of Grand Island, NE, Mauri Rose of Cheyenne, Wyoming, four sisters: Sally Fillinger, of Grand Island, Ellen Rose of Laguna Beach, California, Jean Sutter of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Sherri Somerville of Ozark, Arkansas and good friend, “Cowboy” Elroy Garcia of Anchorage, Alaska, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
James was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Frank Rose; and sister, Janet Tiff.
