William Dolenc

William Max “Willie” Dolenc, 96, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2013at his home with his family at his side. A longtime resident of Superior and Rock Springs, Wyoming, He was born on March 3, 1917 in Butte, Montana, the son of the late Ignatz and Francis Dolinar Bozovichar. He was raised by his mother and step-father Anton Dolenc. He attended schools in Cumberland and Superior, Wyoming. He married Priscilla Marie Mecca in Manila, Utah, July 29, 1939 and had two sons Willie, Jr. and Joey. Willie was a retired coal miner from Union Pacific Coal Company, D.O. Clark Mine for twenty-two years. He later worked at Putz Black Smith Shop in Rock Springs and also worked for and retired as a contract welder for Champion Petroleum Gas Plant in Patrick Draw. Willie was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, the United Mine Workers of America and S.N.P.J. Lodge. His interests included fishing, hunting, polka dancing, gardening, camping, spending time with his family and friends, and enjoying the wonderful Young Heart Senior Citizen’s Center. Willie especially enjoyed bow hunting. He won 3rd place nationally in Pope and Young for his antelope, and having his picture taken with Fred Baer, the best bow hunter in his day. In addition to his wife Priscilla of seventy-three years, Willie is survived by one brother, two sons, four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; their eldest son Willie and his wife Janet of Rock Springs, and their sons, Patrick of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Dean and his wife Tiffanee, their children Hunter and Haillie of Riverton, Utah; Robert Padmos and daughter Raine of Helena, Montana, Justin Padmos and wife Jessica of Salt Lake City, Utah. Their youngest son Joey and wife Denise of Rock Springs, Wyoming, their two children, both of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Joseph, Jr. (J.J.), their daughter Laura and her husband Scott Garrett and their son Easton. Also his last remaining brother Danny Dolenc of Aurora, Colorado, and many nieces and nephews. William is preceded in death by his father Ignatz Bozovichar, his mother Frances Dolinar Bozovichar and step-father Anton Dolenc, one sister Stella Zaversnik, four brothers Max Dolenc, Albert Dolenc, Tony Dolenc and Joe Bozovichar. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday July 3, 2013 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 116 Broadway, Rock Springs, Wyoming. A Vigil Service with Rosary will be recited at 6:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk Street, Rock Springs, Wyoming. Graveside service and interment will be conducted at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, North of Rock Springs. Friends may call at the Vase Funeral Chapel on Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. until time of Rosary and again on Wednesday morning at the Vase Chapel one hour prior to services.
