East Washington, NH-Kurt Leischner, 81, of 76 Bergweg Road, died Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH.
He was born in Brandenburg an der Havel, Germany on January 16, 1932 the son of Paul and Freida (Leischner) Diekmann .
He attended Brandenburg public schools and graduated as a Tischler (cabinet maker). He immigrated to the US in March 11, 1957 and later became and American citizen. Mr. Leischner retired from the United Brotherhood of Carpenters, Local 538 and had been a self employed cabinet maker. He was also a volunteer firefighter for the Town of Washington.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Fay (Blakney) Leischner of East Washington, NH; a son and his wife, Paul and Suellen Leischner; a granddaughter, Emily Leischner; a grandson, PVT Nicholas Leischner, US Army; all of Londonderry,NH; a sister Trauta Pelzer, a brother Rainer Diekmann and other family members all of Brandenburg an der Havel, Germany.
There will be no calling hours. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the East Washington Baptist Church, 2234 East Washington Road, Washington, NH with burial to follow in the Town of Washington Cemetery, adjacent to the church.
In lieu of calling hours, we are asking all friends and family to come to the home of Kurt and Fay Leischner for a gathering and Mercy Meal at 1:00 P.M.
