Frances Mae "Fran" Evinger, 70, of Paxton passed away following a valiant battle with cancer on June 28, 2013, at Illinois Knights Templar Home in Paxton.

Memorial service and burial was held Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at 11 am at Danville National Cemetery. Baier Family Funeral Services of Paxton handled the arrangements.

Mrs. Evinger, daughter of Elonzo and Margaret Laudenslager Storey, was born July 24, 1942 in Fremont, Nebraska. On October 6, 1962 she married Michael A. Evinger in Omaha, NE.

She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Rantoul, Branch. She was active in the Palmdale, CA Rotary Club, having served as president of the club. She was on the Rose Parade Committee in Pasadena, CA for three years and hosted multiple exchange students. She also served as a Girl Scout leader and 4-H advisor. One of her fondest memories as a leader was having one of her young Girl Scouts sell cookies to President Ronald Reagan as he stepped off of Air Force One. Mrs. Evinger often demonstrated her skill with a camera by capturing stunning images. Fran loved to find efficiencies through technology and was always demonstrating a new gadget. She was a talented and published writer. After working as a newspaper writer, she chose to stay home for a time to raise her children. She returned to the work place later as an educator teaching high school yearbook and photography classes. Fran retired as a computer specialist for the U.S. Department of Energy.

Fran never met a stranger and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband Mike, daughter and son-in-law, Dave and Sandra McClure of Gibson City, son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Emma Evinger of Klamath Falls, Oregon, brother and sister-in-law Dale and Michelle Storey of Omaha NE, and brother and sister-in-law Jack and Lee Storey of Payson AZ. Frances is grandmother to eight grandchildren and great-grandmother to five great-grandchildren.
