Samuel M. Piscione Sr.

U.S. Veteran

Samuel M. Piscione Sr., 82, of Latrobe, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2013 in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. He was born August 11, 1930 in Hillside, a son of the late Giovachione and Mary (Marrone) Piscione.

Prior to his retirement, Sam was employed by Piscione Electric in Latrobe. He had also previously worked for Westinghouse, Kennametal, and Inselmini Construction. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served with the US Marine Corp and a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, the Thomas B. Anderson American Legion Post 515, and the First Ward Firemen’s Club. Sam enjoyed his position and was proud of being a former manager of the Westmoreland Amusements and Lloydsville Sportsmen’s Teener League baseball teams.

In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Mary Ann (Martino) Piscione on September 11, 2012, a grandson. David Baughman, four brothers: Anthony Rossi, Louis Ross, Seraphine Ross, and Dominick Piscione, and two sisters, Ann Kobleck and Sarah Casasanta.

He is survived by two children: Mary Ann Musick and her husband Craig of Latrobe, and Samuel M. Piscione Jr. and his wife Lori of Latrobe, five grandchildren: Paul A. Baughman Jr. and his wife Laura, Brian Baughman, Samantha Piscione, Rocco Piscione, and Colby Musick Breegle and her husband Scott, a great granddaughter, Sofia Baughman, a sister Elizabeth Churbock, a sister-in-law, Emily Martino, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Sunday in the Hartman-Graziano Funeral Home, Inc. 1500 Ligonier Street in Latrobe. Military services accorded by the combined funeral detail of American Legion Post 515 and VFW Post 3414 will be held at 8:45 AM Monday in the funeral home. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:30 AM Monday in Holy Family Church with the Very Rev. Daniel C. Mahoney VF as celebrant. Interment will follow in Unity Cemetery, Unity Township.
