Mr. Farrior Lee Braswell, Sr., age 86, lovingly known by his family and friends as “Bill” and formerly of Wayne County, 330 Amity Road, Woodbridge, Connecticut departed his earthly life on Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Yale Hospital, in New Haven, Connecticut, Saint Raphell Campus.
Farrior was born in Wayne County, NC on October 2, 1926, to the late Mr. Robert Braswell and Mrs. Mabell Kornegay Braswell.
He received his education in the public schools of Wayne County. He attended A & T University in Greensboro, North Carolina.
“Bill” served our country by joining the United State Navy where he served for nine years. During his tour, he met, dated and married Mrs. Vernette and to that union one son was born.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Vernette Braswell; two sisters, Mrs. Rosa Robertson and Mrs. Seretha Chestnut; one brother, Mr. Joseph Braswell.
Funeral Service will be conducted on Monday, July 1, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 South George Street, Goldsboro, NC. Pastor James E. Collins will officiate.
Entombment will follow in the Wayne Memorial Park Cemetery - South, 2929 US 117 South, Dudley, NC.
Also, a public viewing will be held on Monday, July 1, 2013, at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 South George Street, Goldsboro, NC from 9:00 a.m. to 9:50 a.m.
Brother Braswell leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories to: his son, Mr. Farrior L. Braswell, Jr. and wife, Ida of Connecticut; three grandchildren, Mr. Robert Braswell and wife, Nicole of New York, Mrs. Anitra Hammett and husband, Jamal of California and Mrs. Lauren Irons and husband, Howard of New York; mother of the children, Mrs. Beverly Braswell; two sisters, Mrs. Mable Austin and Mrs. Virginia Rouse both of North Carolina; a sister in law, Mrs. Marva Sweeting; a brother in law, Mr. Lawrence Allen; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
