Funeral services for Willard Hunter age 62 of Hot Springs, Arkansas who died Sunday June 23, 2013 in a local Hospital. Will be held Saturday, June 29, 2013 in Eureka Baptist Church at 11:00 AM with pastor Steve Lake officiating, and Brother Herman Hunter Eulogist. Burial will be in Crestviem Memorial Cemetery with services provided by Brandon’s Mortuary
Willard Hunter was born to the late Millard Hunter Sr. and Jessie Emma Knapper Hunter on April 7, 1951 in Forest City, AR. The Hunters moved to Hot Springs in 1953 and united with The Greater Saint Paul Baptist Church. Later became united with Eureka Baptist Church where he confessed faith in Christ, was baptized and became a member of Eureka Baptist Church. He told anyone that would listen about his Heavenly Father.
Willard graduated from Hot Springs High School and attended Northeastern Oklahoma, in Miami, OK. Willard lived the majority of his adult life in Houston, TX where was a employed with Maritime Local Union 872. He moved back to the city after retirement and was employed with The Oaklawn Jockey Club until his illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Millard Hunter, Sr. and Jessie Hunter; three brothers, Millard Hunter, Jr., Robert Hunter, Sr. and L. F Hunter; one sister; Vearline Blount.
He leaves to celebrate his life: Five brothers (spouses); Rev. Roosevelt (Charnetta) Hunter of St. Paul, MN; Wilbert(Shawana) Hunter of Fairfield, TX; Herman (Betty) Hunter of Hot Springs, AR; Kelvin (Regina) Hunter and David Hunter of Houston, TX. Four sisters (spouses); Lillie Hunter of Kansas City, MO; Survenia (Peter) Counts of Hot Springs, AR; Mazell Hunter Seals of Houston, TX, and Lucinda Hunter of Hot Springs, AR. One Sister in law, Ester Hunter of Hot Springs, AR; and one Aunt, Ve Ester Lyman of Detroit, MI.
Visitation will be Friday June 28, 2013 from 5 until 7 pm at Eureka Baptist Church 721 Gaines Street Hot Springs, AR online Guest registry at www.brandonsmortuary.com The family will be at 116 Bruce Street and 108 Perry Street.
