George H. Collins

U.S. Veteran

George H. Collins, 82, of Clarence, MO, passed away Friday, June 21, 2013, at Samaritan Hospital in Macon.

George was born on July, 10, 1930, in Lentner, MO, the son of William Harvey and Annie Delmar (Conrad) Collins. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. George retired from the army as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 in 1975. He was united in marriage to Beverly Jean Scriven on December 1, 1950; she preceded him in death on December 21, 1979. He later married Janice Ann Daniels on December 21, 1981, and she also preceded him in death. George was married to both his wives for 28 years. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, animals, and driving to town every day. He is survived by six children, Kathy Davison and husband Raymond of Richardson, TX, Linda Collins of Macon, MO, Connie Johnson-Bowers and husband James of Suisun, CA, Jim Collins of Clarence, MO, Laneva Cashatt and husband Rodney of Callao, MO, David Collins and wife Kim of Macon, MO; one step daughter Leslie Harvey and husband Roger of Macon, MO; 22 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, one brother, Stanley Collins, and one sister Frances Larrick.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at 10 am at the Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon with Bro. Jim Bolin officiating. Burial with Full Military Honors will be at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Memorial can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
