Robert “Bud” E. Heyn, 85, of Moose Lake, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, June 19, 2013, in Oakview Terrace, Moose Lake. He was born May 14, 1928 in Pine City to Fred and Amelia (Hintz) Heyn. Bud moved to Moose Lake in 1936 where he grew up. Bud worked for several years for Agurkis Logging. He was an Army Veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1953. Upon his discharge, Bud returned to Moose Lake and became active in Moose Lake American Legion Post #389 as well as the Moose Lake Honor Guard. Bud was united in marriage to Mavis Wiegert on December 26, 1981 and became father to her children. Bud worked for the Carlton County Highway Department for 11 years and retired from the State of Minnesota after 25 years as an Operating Engineer and Building Maintenance Supervisor at Moose Lake State Hospital.
Bud is preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Nancy; infant brother, Wesley; brother, Ted; sisters, Virginia McCumber and Susan Johnson.
Bud is survived by his loving wife, Mavis of Moose Lake; children, Linda and Alan; stepsons, Steve Heinecke of Baxter and John (Renate) Wiegert of Pillager; stepdaughters, Wanda (Tom) Jackson and Summer Wiegert; brothers, Fred (Bernadine), John (Mary), Jerry (Pat), Louis (Ruth) and Mike (Jane); sisters, Lois (Ed) Schlampp, Kay Watson and Eileen Heyn; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Bud’s family wishes to extend their thanks and gratitude to Dr. Christensen and staff at Mercy Hospital and the love, care and affection of Amy and staff of Oakview Terrace as well as the hospice staff.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 26, from Noon until the 1 PM Service in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake.
