Norma Jean Dir passed away on January 24, 2013 in Lewiston, Idaho in the loving arms of her son William Dir M.D. and grandson Mackenzie Dir. Jean passed away from complications of pancreatic cancer. Jean was an active citizen of Challis; she was the originator of the Challis Health Fair and served on the Challis City Council, plus volunteered at the HUB and the North Custer Hospital District board of trustees. Jean was a member of the St. Louise Catholic Church, and an active member of the Florence Chapter #79 Order of the Eastern Star. Jean was born on February 21, 1929 as Norma Jean Davis to parents Forest E. Davis and Beulah Conrad Davis in Buffalo, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Doris Wallace, Dorothy Maxine Lowman of Challis, Bonnedean Davis and Judith Marlene Schoenauer. Jean is survived by her son William Dir M.D. (Jennifer) and their sons MacKenzie and Edwin; Philip Barker (Miki and daughter Selena); sister Charlene Johnson of Challis, Idaho; and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the St. Louise Catholic Church at 2:00 p.m. with Inurnment to follow in the Challis Cemetery with burial rites by the Florence Chapter of the Eastern Star #79. Services are under the direction of the Jones & Casey Funeral Home of Challis, Idaho.
