Jeanette D.

A retired telephone company office clerk, she passed away suddenly Tuesday morning June 18th in her Reading home.  She was 79 years of age, Born and raised in Chelsea she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Julia (Wodzenski) Waniak.  “Jeanie” attended local schools and graduated from Chelsea high School and resided in Chelsea for most of her life.  She married Joseph W. Francis and together they raised their family in Chelsea.  She was a dedicated homemaker and working mother, she worked early on for New England Tel & Tel in the Chelsea office as an Office Clerk and later in Boston for AT&T before taking her retirement.  She was preceded in death by her husband Joe in 1972.  She moved to Melrose in 1993 and later near her daughter Susan 15 years ago in Reading where she was residing at the time of her passing. In addition to her husband she was also preceded in death by her granddaughter Keri Francis.  Jean was a visitor and participant in activities with the Reading Senior Citizens and she was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She is survived by her children William Francis and his wife Rose of Littleton, Susan Cameron and her husband Robert of Reading.  She was the dear sister of Charles Waniak and his wife Florence of NJ.  Cherished grandmother of Brian and Kevin Francis, Keith and Kasey Cameron and the late Keri Francis. Adored great grandmother of Vincent Francis.

Her Funeral will begin from the Frank A. Welsh & Sons Funeral Home 718 Broadway CHELSEA on Friday June 21st at 8:30 A.M. Followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Stanislaus Church 163 Chestnut St. Chelsea at 9:30 A.M. Services will conclude with Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  Relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend.  Visiting hours will be held at the Welsh Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 - 7 P.M.  Funeral Home fully handicap accessible, ample parking opposite Funeral Home.

Should friends desire, contributions in her memory may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation of New England, 357 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, MA 01887.
