Nancy Schnitzius Earnhart, 82, lover of God, family, and all things beautiful, passed peacefully to heaven on June 17, 2013, surrounded by her adoring family. Born November 26, 1930, to Henry and Hazel (Life) Schnitzius, she grew up in New Augusta, Indiana. She graduated from Indiana University where she met her future husband Bill. After he completed medical school, they moved to Florida and settled in Delray Beach in 1960. Nancy’s many passions included her family, volunteer work, travel, gardening, reading, painting, cooking, and playing bridge. She loved First Presbyterian Church of Delray Beach where she was involved in many areas. She served as elder, sang in the choir, and decorated the sanctuary cross for Palm Sunday and Easter with fresh cut palms and Easter lilies for over 40 years. She helped start the Haven Tree Hut Thrift Shop to benefit abused children. She enjoyed being part of the original board of directors of Old School Square and received The Buster Musgrave Award recognizing her two decades of service to Old School Square and Delray Beach. In 2001, Nancy was honored as one of Bethesda Hospital’s “Women of Grace.” She was a long-time member of the Delray Beach Roundtable Book Club, Seaside Bible Study, and the Landscape and Beautification Committee at her home, Delray Dunes Golf and Country Club. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends, including her husband of 59 years, Bill; children Brady (Bob Gartland), Becky Martinez (Ralph), and Craig (Mary); grandchildren Rebecca Martinez Hueber (Brandon), Will, and Maggie Martinez; Billy, Charlotte, and Russell Earnhart; and great-granddaughter Charlotte Grace Hueber.
