U.S. Veteran

Born to Eternal Life on Sunday, June 16, 2013, age 89 years. Survived by his loving partner Rosie Riemann of 33 years. Dear father of John, Rick (Glo), Paul (Jules), David, Barbara (Carol), Dan (Lauree), Colleen (John) Schmitt, Lori (John) Rucinski, Therese (Travis) Lehrer, and the late Bob McMahon. Grandfather of 16 and great-grandfather of 8. Preceded in death by his siblings Dolores Dryer and Earl. Also survived by other relatives and friends. Howie proudly served his country in the Army Air Corps during WWII and was a POW in Germany, Stalag Luft IV. Howie was the past Wisconsin State Commander of the American Ex-POW's, commander of WI Barbed Wire Chapter, and Holy Name Society President. Visitation will be held at the Zwaska Funeral Home on Thursday, June 20, 2013 from 4PM - 7PM with a Prayer Vigil at 7PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at OUR LADY OF GOOD HOPE CHURCH, N. 41st ST and W. Good Hope Rd., on Friday June 21, 2013 at 10:00AM. Procession to WI Memorial Park for Burial to follow.
