James “Jim” C. Weamer, age 68, of Livingston, died June, 15, 2013 at his home with his wife Mary by his side. Mass of Christian Burial held Thursday, June 20, 11am, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Livingston with Fr. Dale Yurkovic officiating. Vigil Prayer Service held Wednesday evening at 7pm. Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery. Fellowship will follow Mass at the ELKs Lodge, all are encouraged to attend.
Jim was born on February 22, 1945, in Big Timber, Montana. He was the son of Joseph and Leah (Farthing) Weamer. He received his education in Livingston, and was a graduate of the Park High School Class of 1963. Jim furthered his education at the Montana State University in Bozeman; he studied accounting and marketing earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree.
On November 8, 1969, Jim was united in marriage to the love of his life, Mary K. Reed, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Livingston. This marriage was blessed with two children, Christine and Nichole. Jim and Mary enjoyed 43 years of marriage together, as best-friends and business partners.
Jim began a long career as a skilled businessman, first in Lewistown and Billings working as a Manager for Safeway grocery stores then as manager for Cardinal Distributing in Bozeman. The family relocated to Cody, Wyoming, where Jim managed several grocery stores for more than12 years. Later, Jim and Mary returned to Livingston purchasing The Stockman restaurant in 1988; this is the 25th year of operation by the Weamers.
Jim enjoyed life to the fullest; whether it was a good game of golf, a long horseback ride, fishing or stalking a mountain sheep in the high country. Jim also gave generously to his community and St. Mary’s school, where he was a loyal supporter of Fr. Dale’s fish-fry fundraisers. He loved old cars, rock’n roll and a good joke. No one was safe from an off-color one liner, not even his great friend and mother-in-law Kathryn. Jim also loved his dogs Rosie, Peter, his cat Ringo and even the neighbor’s dog Copper.
Jim passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2013, at his home with Mary by his side, at the age of 68.
Jim is survived by his: Wife, Mary Weamer of Livingston; Daughters, Christine Weamer of Livingston and Nichole Weamer of Livingston; Brother, Joe Weamer and his wife, Jolene of Helena; Sister, Carol Shellenberg of Vancouver, Washington; Brother-in-law, John Reed and his wife, Myrna of Prescott, AZ.
Numerous nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Jim is preceded in death by his Parents, Joseph and Leah Weamer; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Verne and Kathryn Reed; Brother, Roy Weamer and his wife, Gloria; Brother-in-law, John Shellenberg; Brother-in-law, Capt. Ralph M. Reed.
Memorials are preferred to: St. Mary’s School Scholarship Fund; Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch; or Stafford Animal Shelter.
