Irvin W. Mahannah, 91, of Dwight passed away at his residence Monday June 10, 2013 from natural causes. Visitation will be Thursday, June 13 from 4-8 at Hager Memorial Home, Dwight. Funeral service will be Friday, June 14 at 10:00 am at the memorial home with Rev. Daniel Woodward officiating. Burial will be at Union Cemetery, Emington. He was born March 14, 1922 to his parents, Charles R., and Anna Nielsen Mahannah. He married Edna Bollino May 8, 1941 in Dwight, IL. To this union there were no children. In the year 1958 they took a niece into their home to raise, Phyllis (Susie) Bollino Mark. She and her husband, Scott, survive as do many nieces and nephews. Irvin was preceded in death by his wife Edna, a brother, Glen, a sister, Evelyn (Milo) Holm, half brothers, Stanley Jeffers and Charles Jr., and a half sister, Jennie. Irvin and his wife were well known for raising prize Hereford cattle and swine. He was formerly President and Director of the National Hereford Hog Assoc. serving several terms. During his career he showed the grand champion pen of three boars of the national show,the year of 1956. Irvin passed away in the family farmhouse that he was born in, and that he lived in all his life. Hager Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements. 201 W.
