Danny Baker was born December 4, 1957 in Roanoke, Virginia. He was the second child born to Dannie Baker, Jr and Mary “Ludie” Baker.
Danny’s education was in the public schools in Roanoke. He graduated from Patrick Henry High School and from there he went to serve our country in the United States Navy.
Danny had relocated to various cities and finally made Washington, D.C. his final home. While living there, Danny’s health began to decline drastically. He had numerous procedures, transplants and surgeries to help his failing heart. His fighting spirit was admirable and inspiring, especially knowing that he never gave up hope. Throughout the many years of this ordeal, Danny remained at peace with his situation. He always commented “I’ll be alright”. He trusted that the Lord’s will would be done regardless and he was okay with whatever the outcome.
No matter how bad his situation was, Danny still had a “heart” of gold. He wanted to make a difference in his family member’s lives and wanted to help his nephews become responsible men. It was awesome seeing how God had transformed his life. He loved his family and wanted the best for all of them. Even though he didn’t talk to them often, they all had a special place in his heart. Just a month ago, he talked about visiting Roanoke, VA and Cleveland, OH to see his family.
On May 27, 2013, Danny left this world and went to his heavenly home with the Lord. He leaves to cherish his memory a son, Courtney; his father, Dannie Baker; his siblings, Anthony Baker, Tonia Baker, Tyrone Baker, Angela Baker, Brenda Baker, Tarsha Baker-Smith, Michelle Baker, Ronald Easley, and Andrea Campbell. Danny will also be missed by his special aunt, Estelle “Dicey” Brown, his brother-in-law, Donnie McCadden. In addition, he leaves to mourn his support system, Jeri Campbell, Delores Jeffries, Vanessa “Tye” James, Sherry Walker, Wanda Richardson and Pat Miller. Pat and her family were the one’s that reacquainted Danny with church and her daughter, Sherry, would pick him up and take him there. Danny also leaves his aunts, uncles, a host of nieces and nephews, and other family and friends. Danny was preceded in death by his mother Mary “Ludie” Baker and his sister, Crystal McCadden. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday June 8, 2013 at Serenity Funeral Home
