John Hamilton Glorieux, 66, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on May 12, 2013.
Born in Washington, D.C. on January 20, 1947, he was the son of the late John Palemon Glorieux and the late Martha Hamilton. John grew up in Scarsdale, New York attending Archbishop Stepinac High School. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1968. John went on to a long and storied career in advertising at Young & Rubicam in New York City, Chicago, and London. He moved to Florida and began a second career in real estate in 1996. All the while, John maintained a strong connection to Newport, where he enjoyed spending time with his family.
John lived an exceptional life and his optimism and generosity inspired countless family members, friends, and colleagues along the way. He is survived by two sons, Justin Hamilton Glorieux of Clearwater, Florida and Philip Zachary Glorieux of New York, New York; two half-brothers, Jamie Glorieux of San Diego, California and Alec Glorieux of Essex, Massachusetts; his step-mother, Aline Glorieux of Newport; two step-sisters, Cayre Michas of Stonington, Connecticut and Michelle MacPherson of Newport; and many nephews. John was predeceased by his dear brothers, Robert ("Bobby") Glorieux, Peter Glorieux, and Michael Glorieux.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. in Saint Mary's Church, Spring St., Newport. Burial will follow at St. Columba's Cemetery on Browns Lane, Middletown. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
