Robert Stanley Alston, 65, of Hamilton, went to his Heavenly Home on Monday, May 27, 2013. Memorial services will be 1:00 pm, Saturday, June 8, 2013 at St. Luke United Methodist Church, Columbus.

Robert was born in Columbus, GA and was a 1965 graduate of Columbus High School and later the University of Georgia. He served in the Army Reserves as a Medic. He and his “first wife” Berta, moved to Winter Park, FL in 1972 where he was a Financial Consultant for 21 years. He published Faultless Freddie's Football Forecast, a humorous prognostication of college football which also aired on radio and TV. In recent years his Quotable Treasures company published a series of quotation booklets to inspire and amuse.

As a Certified Southern Humorist, Robert entertained audiences in 37 states for twenty years with his special brand of wit and story-telling. He started a work-from- home marketing business with Melaleuca, Inc. in 1991 and garnered achievements of North American Marketing Executive of the Year, President's Club, and Hall of Fame. He was a volunteer with Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Harris County Young Life, and a reader at Park Elementary School for Mrs. Rexrode's class.

Because of Robert's great love for Jesus Christ, he became a constant and cheerful giver to his wife, his two children and spouses, his friends and family, and to many others. His seven grandchildren were the delight of his heart. An avid fan of baseball and UGA football, Robert also enjoyed writing, literature, gardening, and playing jokes on friends. He was well-loved for his generosity, encouragement, and humor for any occasion.

He treasured his “Front Porch Gang” Bible study on Thursday mornings, Mountain Shadows Community Church family, coffee club, and the incredible people and lifestyle in Hamilton and Harris County.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Harris County Hands for Christ (P.O.Box 753/ Hamilton, GA 31811) or your favorite charity.

Survivors include his wife, Berta Roddenbery Alston of Hamilton; his daughter, Mary Grace Lyon and her husband, Marcus of Tuscaloosa, AL; his son, Travis Alston and his wife, Melanie of Huntsville, AL; his sister, Jane Youmans and her husband, Kenny of Orlando, FL; two brothers, Otis Bryce Alston, Jr. and his wife, Sue of Woodland Hills, CA, Leighton Alston and his wife, Candy of Carrollton, GA; seven grandchildren, Tate Anderson Alston, Miller James Alston, Neely Grace Lyon, Sadie Jane Lyon, Anne Marie Alston, Alexis Lee Alston, Mary Margaret Lyon and several nieces and nephews.
