Courtney Nicole Corrothers

Courtney Nicole Corrothers, a beautiful bouncing baby girl was born August 22, 1981, to the union of Mr. Ollie Corrothers, Jr. and Mrs. Betty Jones Corrothers in Oxford, Mississippi. Courtney professed a hope in Christ at an early age uniting with Hopewell #2 M.B. church in Holly springs, Mississippi and she later united with Flint Hill M.B. Church in Etta, Mississippi under the leadership of the late Rev. Ray Hickinbottom. Courtney's educational path began at Holly Springs Primary Elementary in 1986. After the family relocated to Lafayette County in 1995, she attended the Lafayette County School system becoming a member of the Lafayette High Class of 1999. Courtney was passionately known as a very unique and humorous person, who never met a stranger and was never afraid of the challenges life had to offer. Courtney lived in the Etta Community for more than ls years among her family and community friends. It was during this time that she met Al Neely who would become her lifelong friend. Courtney will truly be missed by all who knew her. Although small in statue, while in her presence, there was never a small moment. Her memories in the Etta Community will linger forever. The Lord gently closed her eyes and she transitioned into eternal rest in the early a.m. hours on Wednesday, May 8, 2013. She leaves to cherish her memories: her fiance': Al Neely, Oxford, MS; one son: Jaylon Corrothers, her mother: Betty Anderson and step-father: David Anderson, Etta, MS; her father: Ollie Corrothers, Jr., Oxford, MS; one Brother: Iavia Corrothers, Oxford, MS; one nephew: Allen Robinson, Etta, MS; three stepdaugthers; nine aunts, sixteen uncles, eleven geat aunts, five great uncles, a special friend (big sister): Brenda Smith, Etta, MS; and a host of other relatives and friends. Courtney was preceded in death by one son: D'Anthony Terelle Neely and one sister: Lakisha Deann Jones. ****** But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31
