Charles (Charlie) Eugene Bayliss, 91, of Owosso, formerly of Durand, passed away Friday, May 17th, 2013 at his residence. Funeral services will be 1 PM Tuesday, May 21st at the Corunna Church of the Nazarene. Visitation on Monday at Hillcrest Mausoleum Chapel from 4 PM to 8 PM and Tuesday at the church from 11 AM to 1 PM. Final rest will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

Charles was born in Durand, on December 7, 1921, the son of the late Charles and Mattie (O'Dell) Bayliss. He married Esther Elizabeth Albring in Owosso on December 28, 1977; she preceded him in death in 2003. Mr. Bayliss was a member of the Corunna Church of the Nazarene. He enrolled in the CCC in 1940 at Camp Grand Haven, Michigan and later enlisted into the United States Army Infrantry in 1942. Returning home, he worked at Buick Motors in Flint, later transferring to Fisher Body 1; retiring in 1977 with 32 years of service. Charles loved to work in his garden and flower beds. He loved to fish, travel, sing & dance. He enjoyed humor and was a practical joker. Charles also enjoyed cooking and canning his garden fresh vegetables along side his wife, Esther.

Those who cherish his memory include: daughters, Nancy Bayliss of Owosso and Peggy Lee (Ben) Herrick of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Robert T. (Lori) Erhlich of Washington, Peggy Sue (Mike) Mangovski of Australia, Tara Elizabeth Reed of Corunna, Benny Herrick of Jacksonville, FL; great grandchildren, Haileigh Mangovski, Nerrissa Mangovski, Mason Mangovski, Xander Reed, Aislyn Reed and Brett Ehrlich; honorary granddaughters, Kendra Bushard and Allison Soldan; best friend, Pastor Mike Prince and his church family.

He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Esther; 2 brothers, Robert and Richard; sister, Margaret and great granddaughter, Olivia.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Corunna Church of the Nazarene or to the Family.
